Aloo Chop

Aloo Chop is a spiced mashed-potato patty dipped in gram-flour batter and fried to a crisp shell — a staple of Nepali tea-stall counters.
Ingredients
- 3 medium Potato, boiled and mashed
- 1/2 cup Gram flour (besan), for batter
- 1 Green chili, minced
- 1 tsp Ginger, minced
- 2 tbsp Coriander leaves, chopped
- 1/2 tsp Cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp Red chili powder
- 500 ml Vegetable oil, for deep frying
- to taste Salt
Steps
- Serves 2. Mix the mashed potato with green chili, ginger, coriander, cumin, chili powder and salt.
- Shape the mixture into small flat patties.
- Whisk the gram flour with water into a smooth, thick coating batter.
- Dip each patty in the batter, coating it fully.
- Deep-fry until the coating turns deep golden and crisp, about 4-5 minutes, turning once.
- Drain on a rack and serve hot.
