Veg Burger is simple, affordable, and easy when you want a handheld comfort meal.
Ingredients
- 3 medium Potato, boiled and cooled
- 1 1/2 cups Carrot, green beans and peas, boiled
- 1 cup, plus 1 cup for coating Breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp Cornflour
- 1 tbsp Ginger and green chili, minced
- 1/2 tsp Garam masala
- 1/2 tsp Chaat masala
- 3 Burger buns
- 1 tbsp Butter, for the buns
- 2 tbsp each Mayonnaise and tomato ketchup
- to layer Lettuce, tomato and onion
- 5 tbsp Vegetable oil, for shallow frying
- to taste Salt
Steps
- Makes 3 burgers. Mash the cooled boiled potato and finely chop or crush the other boiled vegetables; any leftover moisture will make the patty fall apart.
- Mix in a cup of breadcrumbs, the cornflour, ginger, green chili, garam masala, chaat masala and salt until it holds together.
- Shape three flat patties a little wider than the buns, since they shrink.
- Chill them for 20 minutes so they firm up before frying.
- Press each patty into the remaining breadcrumbs on both sides.
- Shallow fry over medium heat for 3-4 minutes a side until deeply golden and crisp.
- Butter and toast the buns cut-side down, spread mayonnaise and ketchup, and build with lettuce, the hot patty, tomato and onion.
